Apple launched its next-generation phone, the iPhone X on a large scale, but within a few months of its launch, it seems that the future of the phone is in danger. If rumors of iPhone X cancellation prove to be true, the flagship smartphone of Apple will soon vanish from the market.
iPhone X was released as the smartphone of the next generation, but as per the new iPhone x leak, Apple has decided to stop production of iPhone X generation due to its low demand. The brand couldn’t get the expected iPhone X market performance and decided to cancel the project soon. As per a statement given by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst for KGI Securities, the demand for iPhone X is low due to which the brand had to take this crucial decision of “ending the life” of one of their flagship projects.
Reasons behind iPhone X dales drop or poor performance:
Poor design: No doubt iPhone X is a next generation phone from the leading mobile phone giant across the world, but it still failed to impress the users. And a major reason behind its failure is poor design. Tech fans had negative reactions about the iPhone X’s design ever since iPhone X design leak and final revelation by the brand.
Notch: Chinese users who like to use big-screen smartphone think that iPhone X has limited space on the screen. The reason behind this is cutting out the notch for iPhone’s sensors. Due to this other competitive smartphones like Samsung S8 and Pixel 2 have the advantage.
What is Notch?
This is a 3D technology used by the Apple to recognize face of the user as Face ID. Apple used the technology to enhance security of the device but ended up reducing the usable space on the top screen, which users didn’t like much.
Lack of interest among buyers: China is the biggest market for big-screens but iPhone X sales couldn’t meet the expectations in that market as well. They found cheaper iPhone 8 Plus a better option than iPhone X that has limited usable space due to polarizing “notch”.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s statement and other iPhone X production news, manufacturing of the model will be ceased in the summer.
What after iPhone X cancellation?
Launching a new technology or phone is always an experiment with equal chances of success and failure. A phone that was launched alongside Apple Watch 3 the past year has probably not made it to the company’s expectations. Though many are talking about iPhone X sales drop, there is also news of Apple launching three new iPhones by the fall of 2018. In order to keep its growth and revenue intact, the company has decided to release three new models:
- The second generation 5.8-inch iPhone X
- The 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus
- The 6.1-inch iPhone SE
What do you think, is it Apple’s strategy to launch a new model at a lower price or just poor performance of iPhone X that forced the company to cancel its production within a few months of its launch?
