Microsoft will launch the much awaited Surface Pro with advanced LTE in December. The news was broken by the Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for Devices, Panaos Panay, at the Microsoft Future Decoded event in London. Earlier on in September, some details of the Micro surface pro were accidentally released at the Ignite Conference. Now, with the confirmation from Panay, we now have a clearer picture of the new Surface Pro.
Panay posits that in line with the fast evolving workforce, the modern worker will continue going mobile. The office is no longer limited to the confines of building walls. Rather, people want to carry their offices to the cafeteria, in the park, at home, in flight, and anywhere they go. This means that your internet connected device becomes the office; the always operational mobile office. By 2020, Microsoft estimates that over 50% of the workers will be mobile.
Microsoft surface pro: The ultimate mobile office
The Surface Pro integrates with LTE to make the device the ultimate mobile office. It has an inbuilt Cat9 modem with the capability of supporting 20 cellbands. The LTE advanced connectivity means that the user can go to most countries and access the fast internet. Remember that this guarantees you of faster internet and, therefore, you might need to check on the cost of roaming services.
The main focus of Microsoft when it announced the surface pro LTE advanced is delivering higher bandwidth for faster download speeds. The new Surface Pro Cat 9 modem comes with a super high download speed of 450Mbps. This is a great improvement of the standard download speed of 300 Mbps from the Cat 6 Modem in most LTE devices.
The Microsoft surface pro is designed with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 126GB of SSD storage. This coupled with a long battery life of up to 17 hours of standard use or 13.5 hours, or nonstop watching video makes the piece one of the best in the market. You can, therefore, carry the Microsoft Surface Pro far away from the city and still make business deals without worrying it will die off. However, the company is still mum on the length the surface pro will take with the LTE enabled.
There will be two versions of Microsoft Surface Pro with LTE. The first version/ basic version is the Intel i5, 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD which will go for $1,149. The second version has an i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD will cost $1,449.
Microsoft surface pro hits the road on the heels of other top models including iPhone 8, iPhone X, Pixel 2 and Samsung Galaxy S8. Microsoft Surface Pro has demonstrated that it is still a great force to reckon with a bigger RAM, great outlook, and SSD capacity than iPhone x or Google Pixel 2. The device has now set the stage for extra fierce market competition among the top giants. But we have to hold on to get additional details for full comparison especially on security and artificial intelligence.
